The tennis player couldn't match Illia Biloborodko's 2019 result.

Ukrainian tennis player Nikita Bilozertsev's run at Junior Wimbledon 2025 has come to an end. In the tournament's third round, the Ukrainian lost to Slovenia's Žiga Šeško, who had earlier knocked out top seed Andres Santamarta Roig of Spain.

For 16-year-old Bilozertsev, this year's Wimbledon marked his third junior major of his career. In the first round in London, Nikita beat Kazakhstan's 16th seed, Amir Omarkhanov, and in the second, defeated American Gavin Goode. This was Bilozertsev's first-ever meeting with Šeško.

  • In the very first game of the match, the Ukrainian held three break points, but it was his opponent who won the first point of the match. The players then traded breaks in the third and sixth games, keeping things even through the rest of the first set.
  • The first set's fate was decided in a tiebreak, which Šeško took after winning two points on return.
  • From the start of the second set, the Slovenian immediately seized the initiative — taking the lead with a break right away, then doubling his advantage to 4:0. Bilozertsev managed to win back two points, but Šeško held serve confidently to close out the set, 6:2 in his favor.

In this way, every Ukrainian's run at the English Grand Slam has come to an end, and Nikita Bilozertsev was unable to match Ukraine's best-ever result at Junior Wimbledon. In 2019, Illia Biloborodko reached the quarterfinal of the grass-court major.

Even so, the 16-year-old Ukrainian held onto his spot in the ITF world rankings' top 20. Bilozertsev's next competition will be one of the tour's commercial events.
