How the seventh competition day of the 2026 Youth Olympic Games went for Ukraine

  • In artistic gymnastics, Ukraine was represented by Maksym Borysov. The athlete competed in the all-around, scoring 70.832 points in total and placing 31st. So, the athlete missed the final, which featured the top 18.

"Overall, the result is fine, but I could have done better. I was nervous, I was shaking all over. It showed the most on the parallel bars, where I got anxious and performed a weaker routine than I could have," Maksym said in an exclusive comment to DeTalks after his performance.

  • In beach wrestling, the "blue-and-yellow" were represented in two weight categories at once: Kyryl Nahornyi competed among athletes up to 60 kg, while Dmytro Holovenko — at up to 80 kg.
  • To advance to the semifinals, the Ukrainians needed either to win their groups or to be the best among the second-place finishers.
  • Dmytro came the closest — he won two bouts against wrestlers from Georgia and Palau, but lost to a Senegalese athlete and did not advance through the second-place ranking.
  • Kyryl, for his part, earned just one win over an athlete from Angola and finished third in his quartet.

Thus, after the seventh competition day, Team Ukraine with one "gold" medal sits in 28th place in the country medal standings.
