How the third competition day of YOG 2026 went for Ukraine

  • Swimmer Kyrylo Melesyk failed to qualify for the 100m backstroke final. The Ukrainian posted the tenth time among 29 athletes, with only the eight fastest advancing to the next stage of the competition.
  • Varvara Poperezhai won her closing group-stage match of the badminton tournament 21:4, 21:6. The Ukrainian's opponent was Ramiah Bukenya from Uganda. However, Varvara lost her previous two matches, so she could not top the group and advance to the playoffs.
  • The Ukraine futsal team thrashed Fiji 5:1. It was the second victory for the “blue-and-yellows” at the tournament. The Ukrainian women's next opponents will be the team of the Olympic hosts, Senegal.

As a result, the third competition day ended without medals for the national team. On November 4, Ukrainian athletes will have no starts at the Olympics.
