The Ukrainian show MULTITRACK: how to make music from scratch, on stage, and on a train.

MULTITRACK is Ukraine's first music YouTube project, in which participants create Ukrainian-language songs under various challenges or competitions. Since publishing its first episode in December 2023, MULTITRACK has introduced audiences to the songwriting process from idea to release, and donates to support Ukraine's Armed Forces.

The project, mentored by Volodymyr Dantes and blogger Dasha Kubik, has featured Ukrainian performers like KOLA, POSITIFF, SKYLER, and others. The channel is now launching a new show — MULTITRACK people.

The Concept Behind MULTITRACK people

The show's main goal is to find new voices for the Ukrainian music scene. The project's current format includes castings, during which participants showcase their vocal, songwriting, and stage abilities. Performances are judged by a panel that includes Vlad Bulava, SKYLER, Dasha Kubik, and Yevhen Triplov, with Mark Kutsevalov hosting the show.

Three episodes of the project are already available on YouTube. The castings draw both professionally trained musicians looking for their target audience, and amateurs stepping onto a stage for the first time.

Beyond the new show, MULTITRACK also offers other formats already published on the channel. Take the project's first episode, for instance, in which artists create songs in 12 hours. The idea is that musicians, working under a time limit alongside mentors, have to create a song from scratch: write the lyrics, record the vocals, and present the performance.

Another format the channel has run is MULTITRAIN. In it, artists write a track on a train, and in each new city, have to shoot a music video with the MULTITRACK team. The journey comes with challenges, penalties, and competitions for prizes. Past episodes have featured Adam, Ann in Black, Kazhanna, and others.

Episodes of MULTITRACK people air every Friday on the project's YouTube channel. The winners of the final round will receive professional production support and an image makeover, along with a prize of 100,000 hryvnias, which they'll be able to spend on charity.
