Oleksii Sereda and Mark Hrytsenko Match Their Top Result at the 2025 Diving World Cup

The divers matched their result from the first stage in Guadalajara.

The second stage of the 2025 Diving World Cup season has begun in Windsor, Canada. Following the opening stage in Guadalajara, this competition will determine which athletes advance to the series' Super Final in Beijing.

Team Ukraine arrived at the tournament without a full roster — Sofiia Lyskun didn't make the entry list due to neck problems. As a result, the national team lost representation in both the individual 10m event and the team event.

The men's diving duo of Oleksii Sereda and Mark Hrytsenko, however, represented Ukraine in the 10m synchronized event. The pair finished fifth in the final, matching their result from Guadalajara.

Did Oleksii Sereda and Mark Hrytsenko Improve on Their Performance Compared to Mexico?

• In Windsor, the duo of 19-year-old Sereda and 15-year-old Hrytsenko performed the same set of dives as in Guadalajara.

• After the first two dives, with a 2.0 degree of difficulty, the Ukrainians stayed close to the leaders — trailing by 10.80 points, in provisional third place. Compared to their performance in Mexico, though, the 'yellow-and-blues' were nearly eight points behind at this stage.

• After the next two dives, Sereda and Hrytsenko held onto the top 3 — scoring more than 73 points on each attempt, for a combined 241.89. By comparison, at this same point of the final in Guadalajara, the Ukrainians were in provisional fifth place with 235.86 points.

• For the divers, the decisive moment instead came on their fifth dive, with a 3.4 degree of difficulty. Scoring just over 55 points for it, the Ukrainians dropped to fifth place, from which they couldn't climb any higher.

As a result, Oleksii Sereda and Mark Hrytsenko finished more than five points behind bronze medallists Benjamin Tessier and Matt Cullen of Canada. Overall, Sereda and Hrytsenko scored 375.81 points for their performance — three points more than in Mexico.

The stage's final event featuring Ukrainians will be the men's individual 10m platform. Oleksii Sereda — the sole Ukrainian representative in the event — enters as the leader, having topped qualifying with a 10-point margin over the closest Chinese diver, Chen Liukun.
