The Ukrainian shot the race without a single miss.

Ukrainian biathlete Taras Tarasiuk made the top 10 in the Junior IBU Cup sprint, held December 20 in Val Martello, Italy.

Earlier, Team Ukraine's junior biathlon squad ran its worst race of the season, in which only Taras Tarasiuk made the scoring zone.

In the girls' sprint, held on the second competition day ahead of the men's race, Tetiana Tarasiuk stood out — making the top five. Overall, every Ukrainian representative finished the race in the points.

How the Sprint Went at the Val Martello Junior IBU Cup Stage for Team Ukraine

  • Taras Tarasiuk was the first Ukrainian to start the race. The athlete shot both firing stages clean and, trailing the leader by 1:20.4 minutes, made the sprint's top 10.
  • Ivan Steblyna's race went slightly worse than Taras's. The biathlete missed one target at the prone stage, then missed twice more at his second approach to the firing range. Result: 45th place.
  • As in the individual race, Oleksandr Bilanenko's shooting didn't go well. The athlete took three penalty laps after the prone stage, adding three more after standing.
  • Dmytro Kriukov finished right at the edge of the scoring zone — recording two misses at one firing stage, trailing the leader by 3.5 minutes.
  • Kostiantyn Martseniuk and Kyrylo Kulchynskyi each missed twice, which dropped them outside the top 60 due to slow skiing.
  • Bohdan Bohach, after missing twice at the prone stage, did not finish the race.
