Ukrainians Finish the 2025 Summer EYOF in the Top 10 of the Medal Table: Festival Recap

Ukraine won 23 medals at Skopje 2025.

The 18th Summer European Youth Olympic Festival has wrapped up in North Macedonia and Croatia. Ukrainians competed in 12 sports and won 23 medals at EYOF 2025.

On the final competition day, in particular, Diana Kolennikova claimed bronze in table tennis, losing in the semifinal to Austria's Nina Skerbinz. Sports gymnastics also brought a medal, with Valentyn Havrylchenko winning bronze in the vault.

The national team won another bronze medal in the mixed team judo event. In the bronze medal bout, the Ukrainians trailed 1:3, but ultimately staged a comeback to beat Team Poland, 4:3.

Which Ukrainians Won Gold at EYOF 2025

• Makar Yakhno brought Ukraine its first gold, in the 1500m freestyle — finishing more than five seconds ahead of his closest pursuer. The Ukrainian also won the 400m individual medley, making him the only Ukrainian multi-medalist with two gold medals.

• Judoka Khazar Heidarov won Team Ukraine's second gold, facing off against Azerbaijan's Zeyid Alaskarov.
• In the final bout, Ilaria Tsurkan proved stronger than Turkey's Rumeysa Kilickaya. This made the Ukrainian judoka a champion at EYOF 2025 as well.
• Polina Dzerozhynska won the hammer throw final. Her result of 71.50 surpassed her best of the season, set at the national under-18 championship.

Which Ukrainians Won Silver at EYOF 2025

• The first silver medal, in the 10m air pistol event, was won by Illia Lashch and Yuliia Isachenko.

• Kostiantyn Fediuchuk, in the 200m backstroke final, brought the team its second silver at EYOF 2025. He later repeated that achievement in the 100m breaststroke.

• In the final, judoka Mykhailo Solianyk went to the 'final point,' but lost to Lithuania's Tajus Babacenkas, earning Team Ukraine its fourth silver at EYOF 2025.
• Taekwondo athlete David Hulii lost the decisive gold-medal bout to Spain's Ivan Lysenko, bringing Team Ukraine silver. Alisa Pavlenko, meanwhile, became a silver medalist in taekwondo in the under-63kg weight category.

• Gymnast Tymofii Kyrychenko won silver in the individual rings final with a score of 12.700, losing only to Great Britain's Uzair Chowdhury.
• Adam Bilokon won Ukraine's final silver of the festival and the team's last medal overall — in the long jump, with a personal best.

Which Ukrainians Won Bronze at EYOF 2025

• In the 5000m race walk, Vitalii Tarasiuk won bronze with a result of 20:55.71, despite running in fourth place for most of the distance.

• Judoka Illia Nazarenko won his bronze medal bout against Norway's Nino Gubberud.

• Yehor Lapa brought Ukraine a bronze medal in discus throw.

• In the semifinal bout, Ukrainian taekwondo athlete Viktoriia Kuchyna won bronze, losing to Croatia's representative, Maja Srhoj.

• Makar Yakhno finished third in the 200m freestyle swimming final.

• Illia Lashch and Yuliia Isachenko won their second EYOF medal — bronze in the 10m air pistol event, edging out Bulgaria's representatives (21:17) on a hit/miss basis.

• Judoka Artur Makarenko won bronze in his bout against Serbia's Nemanja Simic.

• Diana Kolennikova lost to Nina Skerbinz in the table tennis semifinal, automatically earning bronze.

• Gymnast Valentyn Havrylchenko won bronze in the vault.

• Team Ukraine's mixed judo team also beat Team Poland in the bronze medal bout.

In total, Team Ukraine won 23 medals at the 2025 Summer European Youth Olympic Festival: five gold, eight silver, and ten bronze.

This result marks the national team's second-best medal count at the last ten Summer European Youth Olympic Festivals. Ukrainians have only performed better once, in Baku, with 25 medals.
