Ukraine's U21 Team Begins Euro 2027 Qualifying: How the First Match Went

The match against Lithuania ended 4:0.

Ukraine's U21 national football team won its first match of Euro 2027 qualifying. It happened in an away match against Lithuania, held September 5 in Druskininkai.

The 'yellow-and-blues' were placed in Group H alongside Hungary, Croatia, Turkey, and Lithuania. In the spring, the national team will play its first four matches — one in September, two in October, and one in November.

How the Lithuania U21 — Ukraine U21 Match Went

• Team Ukraine dominated the first half, creating scoring chances, but couldn't break through Lithuania's defense. The first half ended 0:0, despite possession of 73%-23% and six shots, two of them on target.
• In the 69th minute, midfielder Danylo Krevsun opened the scoring off a cross from Hennadii Synchuk. Four minutes later, defender Serhii Korniichuk doubled the lead off a rebound from Artem Husol.
• In the 77th minute, Synchuk converted a penalty, placing it low into the right corner and extending Ukraine's lead to three goals. Then, in the fourth minute of stoppage time, after opponent Eduardas Jurjonas was sent off, Oleksandr Hadzhiiev scored the final goal against the Latvians, bringing the score to a rout.

As a result, in the first match of Euro 2027 qualifying, Ukraine's U21 team defeated Lithuania 4:0.
