Team Ukraine Wins Two More Medals at EYOF 2025: Who Claimed Them on the Second Competition Day

On the second competition day, Ukrainians won gold and silver.

Team Ukraine added two more medals to its haul at the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival. It happened following the second day of these multi-sport games, running in North Macedonia and Croatia July 20-26. Ukraine is competing in 12 sports.

Earlier, on the first competition day, the Ukrainians won their debut medal — silver in the 10m air pistol event, claimed by Illia Lashch and Yuliia Isachenko.

How Team Ukraine's Second Day at EYOF 2025 Went: July 22 Results

     

  • In the badminton group stage, Ukraine's Ivan Dzhus beat Croatia's Marko Surina (21:14, 11:21, 21:18), but later lost to Poland's Jakub Dulemba (12:21, 21:23), losing his chance to advance to the playoffs. Meanwhile, Ukraine's Varvara Poperezhai beat Azerbaijan's Viktoriia Kumaniaieva (21:14, 21:13) and the Netherlands' Jill Felten (21:17, 21:12), topping her group.
  • In the morning track and field session, Adam Bilokon was disqualified for a false start in the 110m hurdles final, while Ivanna Oleksiuk made the 400m final, finishing fifth. Meanwhile, in the first round of the girls' 2000m steeplechase, Tiana Lipinska finished ninth, and another Ukrainian, Diana Bilashevych, finished sixth in her first-round qualifying group.
  • In the 10m air pistol competition, Yuliia Isachenko finished fourth in the final, falling one place short of a medal. Among the boys in the same event, Illia Lashch finished fifth.
  • The first table tennis match ended in a win for Diana Kolennikova over Denmark's Stella Rosenmajer, 3:1. Vadym Solits also managed to beat his Estonian opponent, Martin Kraiko (3:0). But in her next match, Diana Kolennikova lost to Andrea Baisao, 0:3.
  • Ukrainian judoka Kyrylo Stets beat Slovenia's Tim Papan in the first round, but lost to France's Axel Cuq in the quarterfinal and didn't win his repechage bout. Another Ukrainian representative, Nikita Tatarin, did not compete.
  • During the morning swimming session, Ivan Riaduiev finished first in his heat in the 100m freestyle, while Andrii Kolesnyk finished fifth in the same event. In the girls' 400m freestyle, two Ukrainians competed: Sofiia Barabash finished fourth, and Anastasiia Shkitak finished eighth.
  • The evening session proved more productive: Ivan Riaduiev posted the best time in the semifinal, and Kostiantyn Fediuchuk brought the team its second silver at EYOF 2025 in the 200m backstroke final. In the identical girls' event, Sofiia Barabash finished seventh. Makar Yakhno, meanwhile, won Ukraine's first gold in the 1500m freestyle — finishing more than five seconds ahead of his closest pursuer.
  • Anastasiia Saturova finished 32nd in cycling, while among the boys, Dmytro Starovoitov finished 18th.
  • In the 3x3 basketball group stage, Ukraine narrowly lost their first game to Serbia, 12:13. In their second match, though, the 'yellow-and-blues' beat Hungary early, keeping their chances alive of advancing from the group (21:8).

Over the first two competition days, Ukraine's haul stands at three medals: one gold and two silver.
