Ukraine's women's basketball players lost both group-stage matches, ending their campaign at the 2026 Olympic Games.

The national team competed in two sports on day six of the 2026 Youth Olympic Games: swimmer Taisiia Larionova in the 200 m butterfly final, and Ukraine's 3x3 basketball team in the group stage.

How the sixth day of YOG-2026 went for Ukraine

  • The basketball players were the first of the "blue-and-yellows" to begin their campaign. The team of Mariia Huliamova, Mariia Markiv, Dalila and Dominika Murzova faced Egypt. The score stayed even until the end, but the opponents managed to snatch a narrow win — 11:10.
  • In her final start at the Games — the 200 m butterfly final — Taisiia Larionova started from lane one. She swam the first 50 metres fourth, but dropped to seventh by the finish.

Even so, in an exclusive comment to DeTalks, Taisiia said this result became her new record, beating the previous one by more than three seconds after a year and a half.
  • In their second group-stage match, the basketball team faced Czechia, who had also lost to Egypt. That meant the teams were playing for the second quarterfinal berth.

The Czechs won by a two-point margin, and the Ukrainians ended their 3x3 basketball campaign in the group stage.

After the sixth day of competition, Ukraine, with one "gold", ranks 25th in the countries' medal standings.
