Team Ukraine Wins Gold in the Single Mixed Relay at the 2026 Junior European Biathlon Championships!

Team Ukraine won the single mixed relay at the Junior European Biathlon Championships, taking place in Imatra, Finland. Ukraine was represented in the single mixed relay by Tetiana and Taras Tarasiuk.

Earlier, the Ukrainians also won their first Junior European medal in two years, finishing third in the classic mixed relay. That team featured Kseniia Prykhodko, Viktoriia Khvostenko, Ivan Steblyna, and Oleksandr Bilanenko.

How Team Ukraine Performed in the Single Mixed Relay at the Junior European Championships in Imatra

• Tetiana Tarasiuk started the race under bib number two. On the first leg, the Ukrainian used four extra rounds — one at the prone stage and three at standing — handing off in fifth.
• Taras started his leg more confidently: he shot clean at the first stage and used one extra round at the second. The biathlete held fifth position, 19.5 seconds behind the leader.
• Tetiana shot clean at the third leg, which lifted Team Ukraine to provisional second place and cut the gap to Slovakia to 6.2 seconds.
• On the anchor leg, Taras Tarasiuk took the lead after a clean first shoot. The Ukrainian also shot clean at the final firing range and finished first, beating the silver medalists, Switzerland, by 3.3 seconds.
