New Teaser Drops for the Dramedy Series The Return: What We Know About the Project

Channel ICTV2 has released a new trailer for the series The Return, set to premiere in February 2026. The video appeared on YouTube. The project was previously announced as a joint effort by Starlight Media, Veteran Hub, and Ukraine's Ministry of Veterans Affairs.

Plot and Cast
Soldier Oleksandr Krechet (Yevhen Hryhoriev), after being wounded, dreams of only one thing — returning to the front. But a promise made to his fallen brother-in-arms, Serhii Verba (Oleksandr Rudynskyi), radically changes his plans. Instead of combat missions on the front line, he ends up in the capital, where the veteran has to become a 'babysitter' for his friend's 10-year-old son and help the boy realize his dream — building a unique drone 'unlike anything the West or China has.'
According to the show's creators, audiences can expect ironic arguments between Krechet and the 'voice' of his fallen brother-in-arms inside his own head, along with a tense struggle against a business rival (Taras Tsymbaliuk) hunting down the Verba family.
The lead roles are played by the previously mentioned Yevhen Hryhoriev, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, and Taras Tsymbaliuk, along with Anastasiia Pustovit and Fedir Hurynets. According to the channel, over 70 people on the team are actual veterans and servicemembers, who played roles and helped write the script.
The Idea Behind the Series
The project aims to show what it's like for servicemembers to return to civilian life, and the challenges that come with it. At the same time, the creators deliberately avoided a depressing tone. As veteran and cast member Oleh Symoroz noted, the script doesn't dwell in despair, but instead shows veterans as strong, funny, and full of great humor.
Symoroz described how the main character in the story has a prosthetic limb, just as he himself does, saying the show tells people that yes, they're strong, they're funny, they have great humor, but this is how they come back, the activist said.
Lead actor Yevhen Hryhoriev described the show as being about the hope that keeps you going, about new feelings being born, and about the same sense of unity that makes people unbeatable, adding that audiences should wait for the premiere, summed up lead actor Yevhen Hryhoriev.
The project was filmed in the dramedy genre (a blend of drama and comedy) and consists of eight episodes. The series is set to premiere on TV in February 2026.
